Earth Artisan was born from a deep love for traditional hand block printing and a desire to preserve India's rich craft heritage.
Founded by two sisters united by a shared passion for handmade textiles, our collections blend timeless craftsmanship with contemporary design. Every piece begins with nature-inspired artwork and is brought to life by skilled artisans in Jaipur using generations-old printing techniques.

Earth Artisan was born from a deep love for traditional hand block printing and a desire to preserve India's rich craft heritage.
Founded by two sisters brought together by a shared passion for handmade textiles, Earth Artisan grew from a deep appreciation for thoughtful design, traditional craft, and the people who keep these traditions alive.We believe in creating slowly and mindfully. From natural fabrics and responsible production to artisan-led processes, every step is rooted in intention. Hand block printing, for us, is more than a technique rooted in the past, it is a living craft, practiced with patience and purpose.
Every stage is guided by skilled hands and generations of inherited knowledge. From preparing the fabric to placing each carved wooden block, every print carries the rhythm and individuality of the artisan who creates it. Meet Our Founders
Shalu Bindal
Shalu Bindal, an M.Phil. in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics, has always been passionate about working towards social causes, especially empowering artisan communities and women through sustainable livelihoods. Growing up in Rajasthan, she was deeply influenced by its rich heritage of handmade crafts and traditional artistry. What began as an admiration for these timeless traditions gradually evolved into a vision to preserve and present them in a contemporary yet mindful way. This vision led to the birth of Earth Artisan, a brand rooted in craftsmanship, inspired by nature, and dedicated to creating timeless handmade pieces with warmth, simplicity, and soul.
Shanu Bindal
Shanu Bindal is a designer based in the United States, with a postgraduate diploma from the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design. With over a decade of experience in the crafts and textile sector, her work has been shaped through close collaboration with artisan communities, NGOs, and local makers, supporting skill development while engaging deeply with traditional techniques and materials. She is drawn to the tactile nature of craft, exploring textures, processes, and creating work that feels considered and enduring. Her designs are inspired by nature, heritage textiles, and the beauty of handmade processes. Beginning with original sketches and shaped through thoughtful detail, each piece reflects a balance of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. Earth Artisan emerges from this journey, bringing together a respect for handmade traditions with a contemporary design perspective.

Where every story begins Every creation starts with an idea inspired by nature, heritage morifs, geometry and everyday beauty. These inspirations are first translated into hand-drawn sketches, refined, adjusted, thoughtfully created to reflect timeless elegance and artisanal charm.
Carving the Foundation
Each design is translated onto wood and meticulously hand-carved by master artisans. These wooden blocks are not tools of replication—they are instruments of expression. Every line carved determines how the design will live on fabric, and every block carries the imprint of its maker’s precision. For layered patterns, multiple blocks are created with exact alignment, ensuring depth and dimensionality in the final textile.
The Language of Colour
Colours are blended by hand, adjusted through experience to achieve depth, balance, and harmony with the design. Each colour is composed in small batches, developed through experience rather than formula. Subtle adjustments are made by eye, ensuring tonal depth and harmony with the design.
The Printing Moment
Before printing begins, the fabric is carefully prepared—cleaned, treated, and stretched across cushioned wooden tables to create the perfect surface for the design. Then the rhythm begins. The carved block is dipped into pigment and pressed onto the fabric with a steady, practiced motion. One impression follows another, slowly building the pattern across the surface. This timeless rhythm, guided by skilled hands and years of experience, gives every piece its own character. Slight variations in pressure and placement make each textile unique, a quiet reminder of the human touch behind its creation
Finishing with Intention
Once printed, the fabric is left to dry naturally under open air. This pause is essential. It allows the colours to settle, deepen, and find their final tone. The fabric is then carefully washed and finished, ensuring softness, durability, and integrity of print. Each piece is inspected not for perfection, but for character.
